Welcome to the Springfield Police Department Crime Mapping Website
The purpose of this website is to provide public access to crime information for the city of Springfield.
The goal if this site is to provide a variety of crime maps as a public resource to inform the community,
increase public awareness and help Springfield citizens stay aware and apprised of what is happening
in their neighborhoods.
The crime maps on this site are generated from databases containing calls for service and/or crime
reports. Because this information may change as more facts are gathered and cases are investigated,
the majority of these maps are not a true reflection of our official crime index totals. One exception is the Annual Report maps which are based on these totals. Please see our Annual Report to view these statistics.
The incorporation of GIS mapping software is a fairly recent addition to the Springfield Police Department
and so historical map data is not yet available. Maps presented contain data from January 1, 2007.
Each type of crime map presents its own interpretation challenges. To aid the viewer in understanding
the maps, a general overview and various issues are addressed on the disclaimer page. Please read
the disclaimer before reviewing the maps.
Our crime mapping site is only recently up and running. As the site becomes more established we
be able to provide a wider variety of crime maps. Please stay tuned.
