Graduated symbol maps are useful in protraying large amounts of data,
showing individual incident locations as well as an actual count per location.
Area density maps are created by counting reported crime totals in an area, in this case census tracts. This type of crime map provides a total count per area. Shading illustrates the density of crimes in an area as
well as providing a citywide comparison by area.
