Library volunteer coordinators will make an appointment to interview you. The volunteer coordinator will tell you if the library has any current openings and what jobs need to be done. We use most of our volunteers to re-shelve library materials.  You should be prepared to offer at least two hours of your time a week.

Shelving: Returning books to shelves in Dewey Decimal or alphabetical order as appropriate.

Adopt-a-Shelf: Includes shelving, shelf reading, tidy and cleaning of an assigned shelf or group of shelves.

Friends of the Library:  Promotes public attention on Library services, facilities, and needs.  The group tries to stimulate the use of the Library as a resource center for the community.

Library Board:  Provides recommendations for future library development, expansion of Library services and policies. 

Arts Commission Board:  Oversees promotion of the arts in Springfield.

Library Foundation: Raises funds for specific Library projects, programs, or materials.
