Proctoring
Scheduling: It is the responsibility of the student to arrange for all test taking materials to be sent to the library, call to confirm arrival, and schedule an appointment with the proctor. Arrangements for an exam session must be made at least 10 days prior to the exam date(s). Last-minute or drop-in testing is not conducted. If the student is late, cancels the appointment, or fails to show up for the exam, it is up to him or her to reschedule. All deadlines, including mailing time, are the responsibility of the student
Fees: Proctoring of distance learning tests is provided at no charge to Springfield Public Library card holders. The fee for non-card holders is $25.00 per exam session. The nonrefundable fee is payable in advance of testing in the form of cash or check payable to the Springfield Public Library.
Supervision: The Springfield Public Library may agree to proctor exams if staff and space are sufficient. Exams are administered in a glass-doored conference room. A proctor observes the student periodically, but is not present in the room throughout testing. Distance learning program managers should determine if these conditions are acceptable to their institution. The Library is not responsible for unforeseen events such as network or equipment failure, lost or delayed mail, proctor absence or illness, or library closure. The student must obey all the library rules of conduct when taking the exam. It may be necessary for the student to test the library's computers in advance of the exam date, to determine that the City's network firewall does not block the exam site.
Frequency: Students may schedule a maximum of three proctored sessions per term. Each session may take no longer than four hours. Multiple tests may be taken during a session.
