The City of Springfield offers a comprehensive package of benefits for its
employees.
Employees can select from two Medical Benefit packages, both plans offer Prescription
coverage, Well-baby care and Vision benefits. Employees are also offered
a family Dental plan. Employee contributions vary depending on classification
or union representation.
Retirement benefits include: Deferred Compensation, and Public Employees
Retirement System (PERS).
Additional benefits include employer paid basic Life Insurance and additional
voluntary Life Insurance programs, Long Term Disability Insurance and voluntary
AD&D insurance.
A pre-tax Flexible Spending Account for health related expenses or dependent
childcare costs, is an option for all City of Springfield employees.
The City of Springfield employees have available two Employee Assistance
programs to help with Behavioral Health related issues or crisis resources
for employees and their families.
The City of Springfield has a joint benefit committe made up of employees
from various union represented groups and non-represented groups. The Joint
Benefit Committee meets quarterly to discuss and recommend potential improvements
and cost savings in benefit packages.
