Community Development in Springfield

The City of Springfield receives Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds directly from HUD. The Primary Objective of the CDBG
Program is the development of viable urban communities.  This is achieved by providing decent housing, a suitable living environment and expanded economic opportunities.

Community Development Advisory Committee (CDAC). This volunteer committee is appointed by the Springfield City Council. A portion of the City's CDBG and HOME funds are made available competitively through an annual application process to project developers. The CDAC reviews these project proposals and makes funding recommendations to the Council.
