Potential Floodway Changes

The City of Springfield has concurred in a request made by the Wildish Company, in accordance with National Flood Insurance Program Regulation 65/7(b)(1), to revise that portion of the floodway of the Willamette River generally located between the Union Pacific Rail Road bridge on the north and the confluence of the Coast and Middle Forks of the Willamette River on the South. This area includes the west bank of the Willamette as it passes Glenwood, and the east bank, in the vicinity of the Harbor Drive subdivision. Since the City has concurred in the request, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will now review the request and determine whether or not it is warranted. The City is required to give formal notice of this application, and did so with a letter dated, August 11, 2008. Since these requests can be complex, the City is making additional material available here, for the benefit of property owners who believe they may be affected by any change in the floodway or flood plain.
