     Welcome to the
Springfield Museum

...situated in historic downtown Springfield, Oregon amid cafes, antique and specialty shops. Large colorful murals grace nearby buildings. The Museum is housed in the 1911 Oregon Power Company transformer station. Because of its unique architecture and its important role in the early utility industry, the building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The Kathy Jensen Gallery will be featuring the original model on loan from the Evergreen Aviation Museum of the WORLD’S Largest Wooden Aircraft “the Spruce Goose”. The aircraft was designed to fly trans-Atlantic to avoid the WWII German submarines that were sinking allied ships. To produce the giant, Hughes and his staff worked from 1942 – 1947, spending $18,000,000.00 federal dollars and $7,000,000.00 of his own money. Completed in 1947, after the end of the war the winged giant flew only once on November 2, 1947 piloted by Hughes himself during a taxi test.

Also featured will be items on loan from the American Rosie the Riveter Association – McKenzie Oregon Charter, Oregon Air & Space Museum, Eugene, Oregon and also many photos and art work from local pilots from WWII, Korean and Viet Nam Wars.

Student Art Exhibit

ANNUAL STUDENT ART EXHIBIT
RECEPTION:
MAY 9 3:30P.M.-6:30 P.M.

This year’s annual student art show and exhibit will feature art work from area high school artists. The artists will submit art in the medium of their choice for this 4th annual Student Art Exhibit. Awards will be presented to artists during the reception May 9th. Please assist the Springfield Museum and your community by promoting art & your local young artists.
