the WWII German submarines that were sinking allied ships. To produce the giant,
Hughes and his staff worked from 1942 – 1947, spending $18,000,000.00
federal dollars and $7,000,000.00 of his own money. Completed in 1947, after
the end of the war the winged giant flew only once on November 2, 1947 piloted
by Hughes himself during a taxi test.
Also
featured will be items on loan from the American Rosie
the Riveter Association – McKenzie Oregon Charter,
Oregon Air & Space Museum, Eugene, Oregon and also many
