GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the general supervision of the Training Coordinator, or a department program manager, provides administrative and analytical support for the Citywide training program.

Essential Duties

1. Coordinates and organizes City training sessions in response to direction provided by the Training Coordinator and City committees that identify training needs.

2. Oversees, and participates in, the setup of training activities, to include securing trainers, obtaining training materials, supplies, and other resources, and scheduling facilities.

3. Prepares training program announcements and flyers, obtains pre-registration for classes when necessary and distributes and collects attendance rosters for each class.

4. Coordinates with other public agencies to reduce duplication of training efforts, utilize and share available resources, and contribute to community training and development.

5. Interacts with contract trainers to obtain the best match for our identified training needs; locates City employees who have varying types of knowledge, skills, and abilities, and who would be available and capable of training other employees.

6. Surveys City employees and tabulates information regarding their perceived training needs; shares survey results with the Training Coordinator and City committees as appropriate; may obtain input from other government and education agencies to determine a common interest in training classes.

7. Participates in meetings of the Training Committee and other City and interagency committees for all issues that include the general training of employees; discusses meeting notes with the Training Coordinator.

8. Maintains files, records, and a training program database, that includes class and trainer information, class attendance and evaluation documents, program budget expenses, and meeting agendas and minutes.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

General Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of employee development and training programs, concepts, principles, and practices; knowledge of program analysis and review techniques; knowledge of the capabilities of data processing applications and equipment; knowledge of basic research methods, as they relate to data gathering and analysis; knowledge of basic marketing and promotional techniques; ability to provide paraprofessional and administrative support for citywide training activities; ability to coordinate and organize program activities, schedules, and resources; ability to gather and process information, make routine decisions, and offer recommendations; ability to monitor program fiscal transactions; ability to utilize word processing, spreadsheet, and database systems sufficiently to perform assigned duties; ability to communicate effectively in oral and written formats; ability to work effectively with employees, other agencies, training contractors, and members of the public.

Experience and Training

Completion, or equivalent, of a job-related two-year college degree program, plus related work experience, typically two years of paraprofessional experience in training programs that include planning, scheduling, marketing, data gathering and analysis, events coordination, and administrative support. Additional related work experience may be substituted for the required education, or any combination of experience or education that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
