City of
SECURITY ATTENDANT
Under
the general supervision of a Maintenance Supervisor, monitors activities in
City Hall and the Museum and secures these buildings and their surrounding
grounds. Performs related duties as
required.
Essential
Duties
1. Secures City Hall,
the Museum, and surrounding grounds, as directed by the unit supervisor, and
based on the varying needs for the protection of City property.
2. Monitors
activities at City Hall, the Museum and surrounding grounds and reports
accidents, property damage, and building equipment malfunctions to the
supervisor, designated contractors, or police, after determining a correct
course of action.
3. Monitors
heating/cooling in the public meeting rooms and adjusts thermostats as
necessary.
4. Assists in
administering City policy for the use of City Hall and its meeting rooms, the
Library, the Museum, and their surrounding grounds and parking lots.
5. May assist in the
setup and minor cleanup of public rooms.
QUALIFICATION
REQUIREMENTS
General
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge
of basic building security procedures; knowledge of basic recordkeeping
practices; ability to learn the basic operation of building systems at City Hall
and the Museum; ability to learn and administer procedures for the use of City
facilities; ability to work independently; ability to make decisions and
determine the correct action to resolve problems; ability to read and write at
a level required for successful job performance; ability to remain alert in
noticing and reporting unusual circumstances and incidents; ability to work
cooperatively with members of the City staff and with the public; ability to
keep accurate and complete records; ability to learn, understand, and carry out
City policies relating to the protection of City property; ability to follow
City policies and procedures for emergency situations.

Experience
and Training
One
year of experience in building security, to include both interior and exterior
environments, or any combination of experience, training, and education that
provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Certification
Appointee
must be certified by the Oregon Board on Public Safety and Training (BPSST), as
a Private Security Officer, or be able to obtain the certification within 90
days of appointment.
