Performs related duties as required.

                                                       Distinguishing Characteristics

The Maintenance Technician Crew Chief position is the most advanced in the Journey Technician class within the Maintenance Technician Journey series.  The Crew Chief is distinguished from the Maintenance Journey in that lead responsibility is a primary function of the position, including routinely functioning as the lead worker of crews composed of Maintenance Journey positions.  Lead responsibilities for the Maintenance Journey classification are not primary to the position, and are generally more limited in scope and complexity than those assigned to the Crew Chief.  The Maintenance Journey may be assigned lead responsibility for temporary, seasonal, or contractual workers, apprentices and others (which may occasionally include other Journey positions) on a per assignment basis.

The Crew Chief performs the more complex skilled & technical tasks in the assigned program areas and is responsible for planning daily work projects, including setting priorities and determining best approaches to assignments.
