MAINTENANCE MANAGER

GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the general direction of the Public Works Director, manages division operations for the maintenance and repair of the City's vehicles, equipment, and infrastructure, including City buildings, sanitary sewers, surface and subsurface drainage systems, streets, landscaping, and traffic control systems. Performs related duties as required.

Essential Duties

1. Manages the division which maintains and repairs the City's vehicles, equipment, and infrastructure; establishes and updates maintenance standards and customer service guidelines; prioritizes and oversees corrective and preventative maintenance activities, to include periodic monitoring in the field.

2. Develops, administers, and monitors assigned program budgets.

3. Supervises the purchasing of equipment and supplies, and develops and administers service and consultant contracts.

4. Develops and reviews plans for future maintenance service and projects; responds to inquiries and requests from citizens and other customers.

5. Completes research and evaluates maintenance issues and options; prepares and presents reports to the Council, the Planning Commission and other public agencies and boards.

6. Coordinates/manages interagency projects with other public agencies; interacts with project contractors as required.

7. Acts in the absence of the Public Works Director, as required.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

General Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Thorough knowledge of public works maintenance operations; thorough knowledge of supervisory techniques, methods, and principles; considerable knowledge of public administration, civil/sanitary/
environmental engineering, and environmental statutes and regulations; knowledge of research and analysis methods; ability to prepare, administer, and monitor budgets; ability to develop and administer contracts; ability to prepare and present accurate, understandable reports; ability to utilize word processing, spreadsheet, and database systems sufficiently to perform assigned duties; ability to travel as required; ability to communicate effectively; and ability to work effectively with other employees, elected officials, other agencies, and the general public.

Experience and Training

Completion, or equivalent, of a job-related four-year college degree program, plus related work experience, typically five years of increasing responsible professional public works or engineering experience, to include at least one year as a supervisor, or any combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Licenses & Certifications

A valid Oregon driver's license at the time of appointment.
