MAINTENANCE ATTENDANT

Benefits Summary

GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the direct supervision of a Maintenance Supervisor, performs custodial and general labor activities to maintain division facilities. Performs related duties as required.

Essential Duties

1. Provides custodial services for the Maintenance Division buildings.

2. Performs basic labor tasks to clean and maintain the mechanical shop, division equipment, and equipment storage areas.

3. Cleans and details City vehicles as requested.

4. Removes road kill and other hazardous objects from roadways and transports to appropriate disposal sites.

5. Provides mail service between Maintenance division offices and other City offices.

6. Obtains and delivers parts for the division's mechanical shop, and material supplies for Maintenance crews.

7. Inventories, and maintains, a supply of paper and custodial products, and other required materials.

8. Documents daily work activities; provides written and oral reports as required.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

General Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of basic hand and power tools, equipment, and materials used in custodial and building facility maintenance; ability to carry out written and oral instructions; ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers, suppliers, and the general public; ability to operate pickup trucks and light equipment; ability to utilize custodial techniques and methods involved in cleaning and maintaining buildings; ability to accurately document work activities; ability to lift objects safely that may weigh 80 pounds; ability to provide the necessary reports for completed assignments.

Experience and Training

One year of experience in maintenance and/or custodial work to include experience operating light equipment and pickup trucks, or any combination of experience, training, and education that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Licenses and Certifications

An Oregon driver's license is required at the time of appointment.
