City of Springfield LIBRARY AIDE Pay Grade: 110 FLSA Status: Nonexempt Bargaining Unit: OPEU GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Under the general supervision of a division manager, performs clerical and other staff support tasks in the City Library. Performs related duties as required. Essential Duties 1. Shelves books, periodicals,
video and audio tapes, and other materials as they are returned to the
Library. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS General Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of basic office procedures and techniques; knowledge of the purpose of a public library; ability to learn municipal library operations sufficiently to perform the duties of the position; ability to understand, assimilate and follow instructions effectively; ability to retain information; ability to apply organizing skills and focus on details; ability to work consistently at assigned tasks without close supervision; ability to interact harmoniously with co-workers and the public; ability to read, write, type, and file sufficiently to perform the duties of the position. Experience and Training One year of experience in a
library or office environment, or any combination of experience and training
