Summary
GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the general
supervision of the Maintenance Office Supervisor, or other division
supervisor or manager, supports the interface between the Facilities
Management (FM) system, or other software used to organize the Division's
operations, and the Maintenance Division staff. Performs related duties
as required.
Essential Duties
1. Provides user
support, to include report generation, consultation and training.
2. Responds to the
Division's FM system and Local Area Network (LAN) needs by securing
support from the Information Technology Department, documenting problems,
and making recommendations to management regarding software and hardware,
and various actions needed to resolve or avoid problems.
3. Serves as the
data custodian for data developed and maintained by the Maintenance
Division; specifies the parameters for data development projects; maintains
documentation of software licensing and usage; creates and maintains
meta data.
4. Represents the
Maintenance Division on City and regional technical committees in order
to meet Division service objectives.
5. Provides Division
data development and application information for other City staff to
ensure the efficient and effective integration with other systems used
in the City.
6. Maintains a log
of all reported Facilities Management (FM) system problems.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
General Knowledge,
Skills, and Abilities
Considerable knowledge
of Facilities Management systems in a production
environment, with a special emphasis on street systems, building systems,
vehicle inventory systems, tree inventory systems, fueling systems and
sanitary and storm sewer systems; knowledge of data development and
application development life cycles; knowledge of PC equipment, applications
and capabilities in a networked environment; knowledge of a wide variety
of commonly used applications including GIS, word processing, databases,
spreadsheets, and other public works computer applications; knowledge
of field data collection techniques; ability to work as a team member
or independently; ability to accept direction, understand instructions,
and complete assignments; ability to communicate effectively with users
who have a wide variety of computer skills, assess their needs, and
train as needed; ability to troubleshoot and identify computer hardware
and software problems; ability to communicate both orally and in writing;
ability to train volunteers and work experience personnel; ability to
establish priorities and coordinate multiple projects; ability to monitor
services provided by contractors; ability to work harmoniously and effectively
with co-workers, other agencies and the general public.
Experience and
Training
Completion, or equivalent,
of a job-related two year college program, to include course work in
data inventories, data maintenance, and/or data development, plus related
work experience, typically two years of experience in the operation
and support of Facilities Management (FM) systems. Formal technical
training and/or experience using an FM system may be substituted for
the required education on a year-for-year basis, or any combination
of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills,
and abilities.
